So you’re plugging along and you start to realize that you just aren’t going to be able to handle all the work in your marketing plan. What were you thinking? Well, if you’re new to this then you probably figured you’d save some money by taking on the load yourself. How long did it take before you saw the dark clouds coming? In order to get the results you want, you’ve got to outsource. If online marketing is a second income to your day job, then you really should look into outsourcing. It’s not really a matter of should you or shouldn’t you, it’s more a matter of “How do I do it?”

There are a few answers. Your cheapest bets are online, like everything else. There are quite a few sites full of people eager to earn some extra money helping you out. If you haven’t posted a job on any of these sites yet, then you’re yet to experience the plethora of applicants that are going to bombard you with sales pitches of your own. Many of them will be wasting your time, and it shouldn’t be hard to pick them out. While, on the other hand, it could get a little trickier once you narrow it down a little more.

The first thing you’ve got to do is be clear. If you’re not clear then you can expect a lot of applicants vying for the job you’re offering that aren’t qualified or that just can’t get it done do to time restraints. So, get specific and as detailed as you can. There’s nothing wrong with it and it’s only going to save you time. Sure, you’ll still get people applying that probably shouldn’t, but not nearly as many.

Check out and review all the info you get back from the people. This is going to get obvious, but reject those who don’t belong. Outrageous bids usually mean that somebody is clueless. If the bid is ridiculously low, there’s probably a reason for that. Freelance work through these sites is going to be cheaper then actual rates you might pay through the real world, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be next to nothing.

You should have quite a few bids on your table, so just roll through them and decline the ones that you don’t like. I don’t want to say who cares, but, Who cares? You should be the only one that cares and it’s your call. Part of the benefit of you to do this internet marketing thing is to be your own boss. If somebody rubbed you the wrong way, then leave them out of contention.

Once you get your candidates, then hit them up with some questions. You can get an idea of what you’re going to work with based on the responses. Don’t ask stupid questions. Ask meaningful ones. Show them that you’re taking this seriously. There are a lot of smart people out there and don’t just assume that you’re quicker than they are.

If it helps or makes sense, give them a test, or a trial. Have them writing something if they’re a writer. Obviously, it can’t be something to elaborate, but you can come up with something. Ask for previous work. If somebody wants to design a website for you, then take a look at what they’ve done. Graphic design? Ask for samples. People should have samples, if they don’t, then you don’t want them.

That’s about it, you should be able to narrow it all down from there and pick somebody. Remain professional. Pay attention to where you candidates are from or are living. There are people from all over the world. Just keep it in mind. Get some contracts going or whatever you need to do, and make it happen.
