There’s no doubt about it, becoming a published author is extremely difficult and if you’ve ever put serious effort into it then you might even feel like it’s impossible. With the internet and the expansion of so many industries, something that’s really taken off and become a lot easier to get done is publishing an E-book. These days, publishing a book has become a lot more approachable and realistic.
There are a number of reasons why this is a good idea. Maybe you’ve got this idea for a book and you’ve sent it around to agents and publishers and it’s been turned down for whatever reason and you’re getting told that it’s too bold, or there’s no market for it, or whatever. Well, with an E-book, you’re publishing it yourself. You are the editor and the publisher. You have sole control over the whole process. You might want to find a freelance editor to take a look your work for you. If that’s the case they wouldn’t even have to edit content. You’re in control and you can basically do whatever you want. You’ve always had this idea for a book, and the E-book gives you a chance to make the dream real.
What it comes down to is that it’s all about you. Whatever it is that you’ve had on your mind, you can put into words. Consider just the idea of having an actual book that you’ve written. You might want to do this purely for yourself with hardly any intention of marketing it or selling it. Maybe it’ll help you in the entire editing process and you’re journey as a writer. Ideally, you probably want people to read your book and hear what you’ve got to say. Maybe it’s a nonfiction work designed to help people. In that case, you definitely want people to pick up your book and be affected by it and learn from it.
If this is something you’ve already considered then you’ve probably already been writing on some level. Chances are you have a bunch of files saved on your hard drive or you have notebooks full of your writings. If you’ve already been writing and you’ve got a lot of material then the hardest part is already out of the way. You just need to put everything into a structure that not only makes sense, but that is professional. It’s going to be a good idea to pick up some books on similar topics or structured in similar ways to what you had in mind and see what you can come up with.
There are a lot of books out there in all kinds of genres, so it’s going to be really important that whatever you put into words is unique and not simply the repetition of what other people have already said. It’s okay to have the same thoughts about things as other people, but you’re going to need to make things fresh somehow. Like everything else, you need to be creative. An E-book is going to be a great starter for you if you’re looking to be an author. Once you get it completed it will really give you an idea as to what goes into the process.
