Well-developed backlinks can wind up being what determines your level of success in the world of internet marketing and blogging in the long run. Take time out to specifically devote yourself to creating solid backlinks for your website and the revenue will start to roll in on a more continual basis.

It wasn’t all that long ago that the word “link” had a totally different meaning then what we think of today. Links are really what the internet is based on. When you think about it, that’s really all it is. Sites are linked to other sites and pages and media files. You do a search on a search engine and links are returned. You follow them to other links and so on. It’s pretty much endless and has taken the notion of six degrees of separation and basically destroyed it.

The idea of backlinks is kind of like an I’ll scratch your back you scratch mind kind of notion and was previously known as reciprocal linking. It was popular back in the day when the internet was fairly new and is still popular now and probably even more important to earning you success. The basic idea of it could be called link trading and this causes you to wind up with multiple other sites that you don’t take care of but are relevant to you, linking to your page while you link to them. A network of relevant products, services and sources of information are then created so that when like minded people might be looking for info about a product they’re in the market for then they also might move onward to another site. This works because a level of trust is created. Somebody sees something on a website that they consider helpful, they read as much as they can, and then utilize the links on that page to further their research.

The idea is to create one way backlinks that will retain your visitors rather than send them away. That’s the difference these days as opposed to before where it was a team, networking kind of effort of sharing. It’s the same idea, but rather than sending people to someone else, it’s like sending them away without sending them out of your area.

Articles are typically the easiest way and most popular methods of doing this. You create articles for an article site and provide links to your page from these articles. The key here is to have articles that people want to read and that get something out of the article so that they continue to seek out more information from your links. These are one-way links because you’re the creator of the article and the link takes them to your site. You don’t have to make that apparent, you just have to make people want to follow.

These articles should be found in the social directories as well. Search engines consider the most recent articles and content when figuring into their rankings. The newest articles are going to bump your pages in the rankings. There are many sites that relate to this idea of social networking and article submission.

The idea is to establish a presence of yourself that is long lasting and not just a flash in the pan. Provide a wealth of content, information and keep it updated and relevant. Backlinking is going to be really helpful in your promotions and efforts in getting your sites up in the rankings.
