So you bought an E-book Showing You How to be the Next Online Millionaire -

Hold on there fella! If you want to become one of the next super affiliates you need to develop a bullet-proof strategy on how you are going to get there. There are no shortcuts in this game. You have to lay the cement before even thinking of building a house on the foundation. Throwing up pay per click campaigns and devising clever sales letters aren’t the only elements of being a great salesman online. Last week I covered several ways that you can conduct quality keyword research and find out what people are actually interested in buying by discovering what exactly they are searching for. If the number of people searching for “how to make money on  ebay” trumps “ebay powerselling kit” one can come to the conclusion that the most profitable product is going to be one that is an all-inclusive guide on how to make money on ebay as opposed to something that targets a much smaller group such as eBay Powersellers. From there you’d be wise to conduct some research into “how to make money on ebay” and compile your own product (ClickBank anyone?) to sell or find one already in existence and resell it via their affiliate program.
Sales Methods
Your next step is to craft your sales pitch in a manner that the prospective customer is going to be receptive to. This can be done a number of ways, but the most effective are typically “in your face” landing pages or permission-based emails to targeted lists. They money has always been in these forms of marketing online because they are easy ways to drive home the ever-so-important call to action. If you can emphasize any message it should always be how something can benefit them (huge discount/what they stand to gain) and tell them to act now/create a sense of urgency. If they perceive the product to be useful to them they will have no problem paying for it and this is what we want. You convey value by showing the customer the result of having the product (whether its been your huge success or how great your product is at what it’s designed for) and telling them why they’d be a fool not to love your product as well. For instance, I love watching infomercials on late night television because some of them (not all) are great examples of how to sell nearly any product. These infomercials are designed to appeal to the masses so they are techniques that are time tested to work on just about everyone that could possibly be in the market for whatever they are selling. There’s really no reason why I need a pet rock until you create a problem I never knew I had and give me the solution to it. What exactly am I talking about here? Well, you tell someone that if they’ve been feeling lonely the solution to companionship is solved with your pet rock. Not only does it give them something to care about, but it’s low maintenance and never complains! Okay, so that’s an outlandish example but you don’t need me to tell you that these types of sales tactics work otherwise infomercials for the world’s craziest products wouldn’t exist. They are effective and work. Simple as that.

Developing a killer strategy

Commit an entire evening to sitting down and really brainstorming every step of what you need to do to be successful. If your end goal is to make someone purchase something then you need to know why they would ever consider even buying your product. If I am searching for “blackjack strategy” and your e-book shows me how you made two grand per night before banned from casinos in Vegas that’s GREAT. Chances are that’s probably something that type of audience would be interested in. A lot of this research is common sense but the most important key that I feel like I lot of people tend to overlook is putting everything down in writing. It’s very important to establish your goals in a form that you can consistently come back to and review. You typically don’t know you are straying from your business model if 1. You never developed one, or 2. You never review the one you created. Straying from what you originally set out to do can be devastating and will cripple your online efforts. You end up trying to sell ice to an eskimo after originally intending to sell it to supermarkets. You and I both know how well that’s going to work out. If you want to be successful in any sort of online venture you will have to carefully plan and test each of your methodologies. Whether it’s seeing how people respond to your landing page or dual testing a pay per click campaign you will make far more money if you invest the time to actually put some thought into what you are doing. The ready, fire, fire, fire approach doesn’t work in this business. You definitely need to aim.
